the accidental archives of the royal chicano air force
this book-as-catalog and accompanying exhibition present a collection of truth and myth - often indistinguishable - behind the royal chicano air force, a collective that played a vital role in the chicano civil rights movement. playing with ideas about the presentation of history and perceived truth, the archives themselves - a series of artist books - reference pre-columbian record keeping practices and incongruent historical narratives. the book catalogs these 'authentic' archives with running historical references to make real the ongoing mythologizing of the group, and offers an alternative reading of history inside the catalog as literary work.
